This era has been a sweet surprise for women as it was during this tech-era, they have undergone a huge transformation. From e-commerce sites to Software industries, many women entrepreneurs have made remarkable achievements. 

With technology and the internet outperforming, more and more entrepreneurs are now establishing their businesses. The widespread use of the Internet has simplified the process of setting up businesses online and this has led to a lot of women hosting ecommerce businesses. There are many who have come forward and established numerous novel businesses and have been running them successfully. 

Let’s look at some of the entrepreneurs who are an inspiration:

  • Falguni Nayar 

Falguni Nayar, the founder of ‘nykaa.com’ is an IIM-Ahmedabad graduate. She worked as the Managing Director of Kotak Mahendra. Later on, she went on to begin her own e-commerce venture.

Nykaa, the mumbai-based e-commerce company has been one of the leading companies in the fashion, beauty and wellness industry, delivering a huge collection of products all over India.

The COVID-19 pandemic had presented a huge problem for Falguni Nayar as the product sold by Nykaa did not fall into the essential category. With strategic thinking and a dynamic action plan to keep the business running Falguni launched a new category of essentials that included hand sanitizers, masks, hand washes, thermometers, etc. and utilized their offline stores to do hyper local delivery. Superior management and decision making skills of Falguni Nayar are the chief reason behind Nykaa success. The company has raised rupees 166 crore from Steadview Capital at a valuation of rupees 9,100 crore and crowned the unicorn status 

  • Sakshi Talwar

Sakshi Talwar is the Director of E-commerce and Overseas Operations of Yak Carpet. Sakshi’s venture for home decor, handmade carpets and rugs focuses on empowering local weavers and artisans. Yak Carpet offers quality and beautiful rugs to customers from different parts of the world without the intervention of middle men. 

    • Suchita Salwan

Suchita is the Founder of Little Black Book (LBB) — a local discovery digital platform. She is an economics graduate from Delhi University. LBB offers an online guide covering a wide spectrum of interests that include food, events, travel, adventure, lifestyle, and shopping, among other things to an audience across age groups and areas of interest. 

It was Salwan’s parents who made her conscious of the money and how wisely it should be spent. They had taught her to spend money on what she feels is necessary. This made her build a huge venture that had raised $8.3M funding till date. 

  • Richa Singh

Richa Singh is the founder and CEO of mental and well-being platform ‘YourDOST’. She is working towards helping people break their mental illness with her emotional wellness platform YourDOST. Keeping in mind that many people fear talking about their issues due to social implications, she has created this platform where one can get support from experts such as psychologists, psychotherapists, and mental wellness coaches.

The COVID-19 pandemic has especially made Bengaluru-based YourDOST witness exponential growth in the last few months. YourDOST became one of the pioneers of digital platforms in the mental health and emotional well-being space.
